Next came the software installation, for the most part it was simple and would be a breeze for anyone familiar with Amigas. I had to install Picasso96 since I had previously used CybergraphX on this machine. Luckily, I had the OS 3.9 CD so that I could get Picasso96 installed, since I still didn't have access to the Internet on the Amiga and sold all my old Aminet disks to help finance this endeavor! Otherwise, I'd have had to burn an Aminet archive download to CD from my PC. Additionally, I had to do the installation on a fuzzy TV with the Amiga composite out, since it is all I have available until the drivers/graphics card take over and can use my NEC Multisync monitor. I'm well versed in this routine (having a lack of native modes with an expansion board installed from my previous ZII expansion board). After creating the Voodoo3 monitor file as described in the docs and a reboot I was back in business on a real monitor. I went ahead and updated my outdated version of AHI with the one that came on the MM-CD and finished installing and configuring the rest of the drivers for my sound, ethernet and tv card.
Since it was getting late, I knew there was one last thing I needed to do before I went to bed and that was send two emails to Elbox, one to register my TX board and another to register the MM-CD. I went ahead and did this and sure enough, the next day when I came home from work I had updates waiting for me in my inbox! This included the Radeon.card 1.0 update!! Elbox rules.
I went ahead and tried to install the Radeon card in my Infinitiv and quickly realized here's where some modification was going to be needed. (See picture below). After finally getting the card fitted, I tried the MM 1.28 update that included the Radeon driver, and updated to the very latest version of Picasso96, but could not get it working for my particular version of the Radeon 9200 card. I mentioned this on the Mediator mailing list and sure enough, Elbox contacted me asking for my card BIOS and a MedReport. I dutifully sent this off.
The next few days were spent becoming comfortable with Miami, since I had always used Genesis, I got my TV and my sound card configured and tried out some 3rd party software. I ended up settling on SuperTV instead of Elbox's "TV" program, and decided to use "Ghostmix" instead of the Elbox "Mixer" program. After only two short days I had version 1.1 of Radeon.card in my email inbox!! I tried it out and it works!! The "standard" Radeon card is now working with the Mediator TX!!
